Take the Taylormade R11 Irons and Mizuno MP-59 Irons as an example to do a experiment.
With a weight port permanently positioned in the center of the back of an iron head during assembly, the Precision Weighting Port assures that each Taylormade R11 Irons in the set is of uniform swingweight while also ensuring that the CG location is precisely and optimally positioned in the center of the face between the toe and heel. In the past, clubmakers have installed cartridges of varying weight in the hosel to adjust swingweight, and by doing so have pulled the CG closer to the heel to varying degrees, resulting in a set of irons consistent in swingweight but inconsistent in CG location.
The R11 Irons have the dual head design which can bring more control to golfers, their multifunctional sole is versatile and made to excel in any lie. G15 irons own the new custom tuning port which can expand perimeter weighting and increase MOI, they also have a lower center of gravity and higher MOI, the g15's thinner face can helo position weight to the toe for added forgiveness.
Mizuno removes weight from the cavity of the carbon steel, MP-59 heads and moves it to the toe and heel, upping perimeter weighting in the process and enhancing playability. Then, it forges 12 grams of pure titanium into the center of the Mizuno MP-59 Irons muscle. That is dubbed Ti Muscle technology, and it is designed to create a larger sweet spot while ensuring that there is just the right amount of thickness behind the impact area for what Close describes as "optimal feel."
The MP-59 Irons are rated for the low to mid handicap golfer, but in my experience, you don't have to be an expert to hit them. I am on the high side of the rating (at 12.8) and I didn't have any trouble striking the ball. I will say, though, if you're accustomed to a wide sole and a large offset with your current set of clubs, you'll have trouble out of the gate with the MP-59s. I subscribe to "The Wedge Guy"'s philosophy that the golf industry wants you to think you're not good enough to hit a player's club.
The Mizuno MP-59 are amazing. They made the 59's harmonics better than then the 58's, or the 62's. The 59's top line and sole are almost identical to the 68. The 59 is a lot easier to hit. They feel so much better than the 58. I think your expectations suck then, because you obviously don't know what you're talking about. There is a lot of weight on the bottom and out on the perimeter.
